Anti-Resolutions

These are my Anti-Resolutions for the year 2013.

1. I will not keep upgrading to the next thing when something new comes out. Such as new cell phones, computers, cars, or clothing brands.

2. I will not add sub woofers and a sound system to my next car.. It messed up some electrical gauges on my Alero.  :(

3. I will stay dedicated to my job, improving everyday, and eventually become a manager.

4. Once I graduate High School i will get a second job to have along side of my job at Mazzio's: Italian Eatery.

5. Having two jobs will allow me to pay off my next car very quickly. I plan to have it paid off in just over a year. Thus allowing me to have a very nice luxury sports car for the next 10-15 years without having to make big car payments, along side other bills I will have in the future.

6. After getting this car payed off, I will start the following semester in College for 2 years getting my basic classes out of the way. After that i will choose to get a bachelors degree in a field. (Financial Advisor, Systems Engineer or Management.)

7. In the year 2013 I will be making better decisions. I'll keep up with my work in school and not just take a zero and a detention on assignments I don't want to do.

8. I will take the ACT/SAT this semester of High School. I keep putting it off and I need a certain score to get into most colleges.

9. I will not blame others for my mistakes. It always seems to be someone else's fault when something goes wrong or I mess up. But this year I am taking responsibility for my actions and will take the consequences.

10. Overall I will try to be a happier person. This day in age everyone is always stressed out and aggravated with their life. But I am going to make an effort to have a better attitude toward every situation that arises.

  1. Jake,
I like most of your anti-resolutions. There quite funny and I tend to do some of the same things. I wish that I could buy some of the new things that come out but I don’t have a job yet. So in return I have to wait for my birthday or another holiday to be able to save up enough money. When I graduate (not this year but next) my plan is to go straight into college that very next year. I feel that if I wait then I won't be able to push myself to get back into school. It is a good idea to have a clue of what you want to do when you go to college. Number 8 of your anti-resolutions shocked me. I have already taken the ACT once and I am a junior. You should probably get that done. I hope that you can complete some of the anti-resolutions. :)

  2. Jake, I like your anti-resolutions but I think you should just keep the job you have now and slowly build up credit. Credit does not build off of how fast you pay off debt, it matters on whether you pay off those bills on time. I don't think that you should have number two on your list. It's not because of the car that messed up, it's because of the person working on your car that messed it up. Next time, take it to a professional who knows the correct procedure or take it to someone who can do a better job. I know cars are our life right now but in time, cars will just be cars of transportation. I believe you have been making some correct choices but it's not always your decision to choose what you want. Sometimes it is okay to make the wrong decision because you learn from your mistakes. That is one of the many rules of life. Since you are going to Crowder College or OTC, I don't think you should take the ACT/SAT. Instead, just go to Crowder and take their placement test.

    1. I'm pretty sure if you pay off a loan in bigger payments it will give you a better credit score with 700-800, where as you make exact payments it'll be 600-700. don't know for sure just what I think. But good call with the ACT I'll just take the Compass Test instead.

  3. Jake, I think all of your anti resolutions are great and achievable. Getting two jobs is very hard but I believe that you can do it and Im so proud of you for wanting to push yourself and be a better man. I hope you get a lamborghini so you can let me test drive it so I can make sure it's safe for you to drive. I hope that you study hard and get a very high score on the ACT/SAT so you can get a good career after highschool. Lastly, I hope you do become happier and less stressed because stress causes some people to kill themselves or get really fat and I don't want either of those things happening to you. So jake, I want you to follow this list of anti resolutions word by word everyday of your life so you can achieve greatness and always push yourself to be the best that you can be without anybody trying to bring you down

  4. Well Jake let’s see here which ones will obviously not happen and which ones have a very good possibility of you prevailing on it numbers: one, three, seven, and nine. These are the ones I’m kind of sure you will break in the next month or two. The ones that i known you will hold true to are what are left over after you take the numbers listed above. These will keep you a happier person in life which as you stated in number ten you are trying to become. This will help you dramatically, also to keep you out of trouble. In this new year I hope you will have a happy life and live it to its fullest of which life has an infinite list of possibilities but as you go along some doors close and some open to new things or past experiences. Enjoy life in this wonderful, cruel, or psychotic world.

  5. I can definitely see you being money managed, and that is a really good quality to have at our age. Its good that your not blowing your money on a bunch of random things but you have a steady job and you plan to pay your car off right away! It's also good that you want to stay away from stupid things that aren't important, I see that in this world we try to have things that other people admire and really those things are just objoect, your personality will out way those objects anyday :)Your going to be so busy considering you work allll the time at mazzios. You know what that means? No "free day" for Mr. Jake Curtis! haha. Overall I think all you anti resolutions are very reachable you just have to set the goal and follow! Good luck with college, two jobs, and fast cars.

  6. Jake,
I can now understand why you and Sura are such good friends. You guys have so many similiar interests it's pretty funny. Your anti-resolutions are pretty good considering the explain just what you are all about. I think that is is great that you are going to create a better attitude towards school and I truely think that it will help you benefit in your future to come. I compleltey agree on your last resolution. I have been found guilty of stressing too much over the small things and I am trying my best to overcome all that stress and just "go with the flow" I wish you best of luck this year! And I hope everything works out with you getting a new car (:

  7. Jake, I like your anti-resolutions! I like that you are trying to better yourself and work hard to get what you want, though I may not understand all you boys and your new cars. (Sura! *cough cough*) Working two jobs will definitely be difficult but it can be done! I really like your first resolution. No matter what we buy there will always be something better within months, though I do like to upgrade my phone every once in awhile. I think you have a great attitude about doing better in school; it will really pay off for you in the long run. It's good you are planning for the future now! The ACT is not fun by any means but its one of those things we just have to do so I wish you luck on that! I really like your last resolution as well. Sometimes I feel like I get so caught up in everyday things and I never take time to just stop and appreciate everything around me. I hope you have a successful and happy year. Good luck with everything!

First FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE DDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Second these sound like resolutions not anti-resolutions next I will say that it’s just money UPGRADE. Next is subs shouldn’t mess up anything unless they were wired wrong and from what I seen when you popped the trunk they were just color engineered in the trunk. Next JakeCurtisSenior as Mazzios Manager?!?! Free pizza free day hahaha I wish I had the time to just take a 0 and a detention. I still need to take the act or something of that nature. Over all I think you just pulled this stuff out of your butt so you didn’t get a 0 or a detention haha that is the true senioritis kicking jakes butt from day one. Have you seen ted? Every time I hear the thunder buddies song it makes me think of you. I would type it on here but it is very bad and cusses too much

  9. Jake, this is a pretty solid check list for the year; I am impressed. Your love for your job absolutely inspires me to find something I love that much. I wish I liked my job as much as you did. You are always talking about Mazzio’s: Italian Eatery (I am adding that last part because you did.) I wish you the best of luck with college and working up to what you want to do in life. It is so crazy to think that all of you are deciding your lives right now and I have no clue what I am doing! You should not have put the ACT off until now, it’s a certain form of Hell and definitely not something to have to suffer through during the last semester of school. What were you thinking?
Your last resolution is fantastic. I think we should all aspire to be just a little happier and to have a brighter view on the world. Good luck!

  10. Jake, I like your anti resolutions. I learned some different things about you. I did not know you worked 2 jobs but thats really nice to see that you worked to pay off your car. I am really impressed by the way you try your best with other things. You should do ACT rather than the SAT only if your school does not require a SAT score. I really think you could get a really good score on it if you check out some ACT practice books to improve your scores! Good luck on your anti resolution list Jake!
