Do You Have Courage?

Courage is the ability to do something that frightens one. In my opinion you don’t even have to be necessarily scared to be courageous. If someone else is afraid to do something and your not, you will look very brave or courageous to them. Let me give you an example. You go to Silver Dollar City with a few friends to hang out for the day. Let’s say your friend is absolutely petrified of roller coasters and your not, you absolutely love to ride them. If you ride the roller coaster in front of him he will think of you as very courageous even though you weren’t afraid in the first place. That’s where I am coming from. If others are scared of a situation and you do it, you will end up being the “hero” or the “courageous” person doing the act. Therefore you are doing something that another is too scared to do. But it also does work the other way if you’re scared of roller coasters and you ride one you are being courageous for yourself, either way I see it as all the same. Anyways, you only live once (Yolo) so be courageous! Be outgoing! Because you only get one chance and you don’t want to look back when you’re old and have regret.

  1. Jake, I think you're absolutely correct in that courage is a relative concept. I didn't really think about that, but now that I've read this post, I can't believe I didn't think about that. Is the roller coaster example something from your own life? If not, do you have an example from your life? Well done, Jake.
